Galaxy Nexus : Something BIG Has Arrived

Leave the rumors behind, “Something BIG has arrived.” Google and Samsung today unveiled Galaxy Nexus in Hong Kong as promised. Let’s filter all those speculations about the Galaxy Nexus and get an updated specs and features straight. Galaxy Nexus features a slim, a little curved, and no button design. The device is simply adorable and sleek at just 8.84mm thickness.

Galaxy Nexus is the world’s first smartphone to have a 4.65 inch high-definition Super AMOLED display. Watch videos and play games in a vibrant, edge-to-edge 720p high-definition screen. The screen has a resolution of 1280x720, this perhaps is the highest resolution on a Super AMOLED screen so far. The Contour Display curves make it easier to hold, inspite of its expansive screen size.

Speaking of ‘first’, Galaxy Nexus is also the world’s first smartphone that runs on Android 4.0 ‘or’ Google’s latest OS Ice Cream Sandwich. We will come back to Ice Cream Sandwich in a bit. Galaxy Nexus is packed with powerful 1.2GHz dual-core OMAP processor and 1GB of RAM. The device is equipped with LTE radios and HSPA+, which means you carry speed wherever you are (ofcourse depending upon the coverage in the area). Browse, play, and share like never before at a much higher speed.

Don’t forget to smile while using Galaxy Nexus. Yes, the device features a pleasant Face Unlock system, thanks to the incredible Ice Cream Sandwich. Now, you don’t have to struggle remembering complicated passwords to unlock your phone. All you have to do is switch on the phone and look into the camera to unlock your Galaxy Nexus.

Android Beam is another feature worth mentioning. Android Beam allows data transfer between two NFC enabled Android smartphones. Hold the two phones close to each other and just touch to beam and share.

Forget the hassles of typing texts manually, consider Voice Typing. Galaxy Nexus does just that; simply speak what you want to type and the voice input feature automatically types the texts for you.

The only downside I see in Galaxy Nexus is the 5MP rear camera as compared to iPhone 4S which has 8MP camera. Don’t shrug!! Galaxy Nexus promises high-quality pictures even with 5MP. The snapper features zero shutter-lag, automatic focus, high performance even in low light, and intuitive panoramic mode. Capture stunning videos at 1080p and share them on the go.

Galaxy Nexus is definitely an incredible device worth admiration. It seems to rule the smartphone arena for long (until a new incredible BIG thing arrives). Get smart, get the BIG thing.

Samsung and Google Delays the Launch of Galaxy Nexus Prime

Samsung and Google decide to hold for a while before Galaxy Nexus Prime goes public. This means even the debut of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be delayed. Last week, Samsung released a teaser video showing a glimpse of the Nexus Prime, with a tag line “Something BIG is coming”.

Nexus Prime was to be exposed today at Samsung’s Unpacked event at CTIA. However, the two companies decided to wait as they found it is not the right time to announce a new product.

According to the statement given to CNET by Samsung spokesperson, the decision to postpone the announcement of the Nexus Prime was followed by the death of Steve Jobs. "We believe this is not the right time to announce a new product as the world expresses tribute to Steve Jobs's passing," the spokesperson stated.

The new venue and date is not known yet. At the moment we can only say “Something BIG is coming”, hopefully soon enough.

iPhone 4S : Smarter and Faster

Apple’s “Let’s Talk iPhone” mega event on October 4th, had mixed feelings among its audiences. Many had expected it to be the launch of the iPhone 5, but instead it showcased the iPhone 4S - an upgraded version of the iPhone 4. iPhone 4S was on the cards, but was a bit tricky to guess?

As the saying goes, “All’s well that ends well”. Let’s hope it does well. The iPhone 4S although identical to its predecessor, is more smarter and faster. Forget the look for a moment, and you will find the real deal inside.

iPhone 4S is equipped with A5 dual-core 1 GHz processor and dual-core graphics. The A5 chip is expected to deliver up to 2 times more power and up to 7 times faster graphics. No matter what you do, you will find the new iPhone 4S quick and responsive. It is adorned with an enhanced 8MP camera with 1080p high-definition video capability and video stabilizer. Now, going outdoors without a digital camera isn’t a big deal.

One of the wow-factor in the new iPhone 4S is the introduction of Siri. If you are wondering what Siri is, it is the advanced voice activated assistant. For instance say, you want to set an appointment. Instead of manually searching for the calendar and typing the appointment date and time, voice out your needs on your iPhone 4S and Siri does it for you. Interestingly, it not only creates an appointment but it checks if you have any other appointments on that scheduled date and time and prompts you if there is any.

Siri is not only useful for setting up reminders; you can make calls, send texts, even check the weather, look for contacts, ask for directions, ask for food joints near you and much more. While Siri is not a replacement for the current Voice Control feature, but it definitely is an intelligent feature worth admiration.

The iPhone 4S is enhanced with dual aerials to switch over to the faster and stronger signal available. Connect, load, reload, and download at a much faster HSPDA data speed of up to 14.4 Mbps. The battery life as claimed by Apple is expected to give 8 hours of talk time and 6 hours of browsing over 3G network, 14 hours over 2G network, and 9 hours through Wi-Fi. The new iPhone 4S is expected to provide a long 10 hours of video playback, and even longer 40 hours of music playback. The credit for this outstanding performance goes to the dual-core A5 chip which is so power-efficient.

iOS 5 – the latest OS from Apple with over 200 new features will debut with the iPhone 4S. It is surely an attention grabber and you can be the first to explore it. Well, for the iPhone 5, we will have to wait a little longer. Is these specs enough to make up your mind for the new iPhone 4S or are you going to cling on to your old iPhone? iPhone 4S will be available in Apple Retail Stores from October 14th, while pre-order on the Apple Online Store has already begun.

Galaxy Nexus Prime : The Next Big Thing

Samsung raised a few eyebrows with their 29 seconds mini ad, revealing a glimpse of the much anticipated Galaxy Nexus Prime. “Something BIG is coming” a very interesting line from the ad says it all. Yeah! Nexus Prime is up for something BIG!! 11thof October is the day when spotlights will fall on this eagerly waited gadget. Have a look at what Samsung has to say:

Well, let’s get on with the big news. Nexus Prime will be the first phone to run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. If you are already smiling, there is more coming your way.

BGR has recently revealed some important features of the Nexus Prime, claiming the news from a trusted source. The leak revealed the debut of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, and a sleekly designed phone which is 9mm thin. The device carries a big 4.65 inch screen with 1280x720 pixel Super AMOLED HD with curved glass. Nexus Prime is powered by TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor which seems to hit at blazing 1.2GHz. Great stuff! With 1GB RAM and 32GB of built-in storage, the device delivers great power and space. It will be boosted with 1,750 mAh battery.

The device has a 5 MP rear camera and 1.3 MP front camera for video calls. Nexus Prime boasts of its 1080p HD video capture capability. It will be LTE/HSPA enabled, depending on carrier.

Not long after BGR leaked the news, GSM Arena emerged into the scene with another speculation. They said that an internal source from Google claiming to be familiar with Nexus Prime contacted them with the updated specifications of the Nexus Prime. If sources are to be believed, this is what has been revealed according to GSM Arena:
GSM Arena says the device codenamed Nexus Prime will have its own - Samsung's own chipset, which is a dual-core processor with a credible speed of 1.5GHz. The chipset will also be quipped with a powerful dual-core GPU from Imagination, which is suspected to be the PowerVR SGX543MP2. An important point to note here, the same GPU is found in iPad 2 (and quite possibly on the iPhone 4S as well).

According to the insider from Google, instead of the 5 MP rear camera, there is an 8 MP back camera with full 1080p HD video-shooting capability. The battery is a concerned factor in a smartphone and much to our delight; we can expect a 2050mAh battery which I believe will remain juicy for a couple of days without charging. Nexus Prime will be LTE-enabled as mentioned by BGR, but here is an interesting twist; instead of HSPA, it would probably feature a dual-mode GSM/CDMA radio, similar to that of Apple iPhone 4S.

It is solely up to you guys as to whom you would want to believe. But, credit goes to both for sharing this so-to-say speculative information. Final say, wait till Tuesday when Google and Samsung will unveil the BIG thing.
